A Urinary tract infection (UTI) is usually caused by bacteria from the gastrointestinal tract. A lower UTI also known as cystitis is an infection of the bladder and an upper UTI is an infection of the ureters and/or kidneys.

Most UTIs can easily be treated with antibiotics and symptoms start to improve within 1 week.
