Treatment

Management of Food Allergy

Sodium cromoglicate is licensed as an adjunct to dietary avoidance in patients with food allergy.

Peanut protein may be offered as an adjunct to dietary avoidance to patients with peanut allergy in childhood, and treatment can be continued into adulthood.

Drug Treatment 


Chlorphenamine maleate is licensed for the symptomatic control of food allergy.

In case of food-induced anaphylaxis, intramuscular adrenaline/ epinephrine is the first-line immediate treatment.  

Patients who are at risk of anaphylaxis should be educated/ trained in using self-injectable adrenaline/ epinephrine.
